Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tile Paint I read some good reviews and tried this to cover some ugly wall tiles. Applied 2 coats and easily produced an excellent finish - I'm no decorator, but I really pleased with the result

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Another great zinsser product As a professional painter and decorator it's always in my interests to use the best if not one of the best products for each given job, zinsser make some really good very useful paints for my trade. After using the permawhite satin interior I won't be using any other product until I come across something better, which will be a while by the looks of things. Not only self priming it's a brilliant paint to use and gives a fantastic finish. A bit expensive but it does go a long way. The exterior version is just as good as well in my opinion it's probably more useful as priming bare surfaces outside is an absolute must.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great easy to use paint. As per other reviews. This is an excellent paint. Easy to apply. Quick drying to a bright satin white and is water based making brush cleaning easy.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Dire down the Line... Used with Zinsser Shellac Primer-Sealer for a domestic bathroom. Started off with bear plaster, which had had more than ample time to dry. Looked lovely going on, but 8 months down it's started cracking and peeling all over the place. Possibly the combination, but the whole surface is very very brittle. I'm now going to have to strip the whole lot down manually and start again less than a year later - what a waste of time and money!

I want to paint my skirting boards & windows silsl which have previously been painted with an oil based gloss. I have sanded the areas in question to remove the gloss but was wondering if I should use an undercoat/primer before applying this product?

Asked by: Vonclopper
Hello, thank you for your enquiry. The Zinsser Self Priming Paint Satin Finish would be ideal for application direct to the completely clean, dry, abraded surface without the need to apply a primer, to provide a durable, non yellowing decorative finish. for best results two coats are recommended. If you are not confident you have abraded the surface well enough or the area to be painted is a high wear area - such as doors for example, or the skirting is in an area that is likely to be subjected to lots of knocks then we would recommend applying a specialised adhesion promoting primer such as Zinsser B-I-N Primer (29661) prior to applying the Zinsser Self Priming Paint. We trust this answers your question Kind regards, Zinsser Technical Support

Using on vinyl wallpaper

I can see from a previous question this isn't recommended. Can this be used if the vinyl wallpaper is already coated with something like vinyl silk or matt thereby creating a barrier between the wall paper and this paint ? Thanks
Asked by: TTTC
Hi. Thank you for your recent enquiry. If the previously applied vinyl silk coating is sound, clean and dry then there is no reason why the Perma-White can't be applied to it. Two coats of Perma-white are recommended, the first coat of Perma-White will act as the primer/sealer and the second as the finishing coat. It can be applied by a brush or a roller and you should aim to achieve a coverage rate of 10m²/L/coat allowing two hours between coats. Hope this helps.

Is there a Zinsser paint for radiators?

Asked by: Juanita
Hi Juanita. Thank you for your enquiry. All of the Zinsser products can be used on surfaces where they are warm to touch, like radiators but not storage heaters as they can achieve too hot a temperature. 2 coats of Perma-White are recommended to providing a durable, cleanable, long lasting. non-yellowing finish. Always ensure that the surface has prepared sufficiently i.e., wash with hot soapy water then rinsed with fresh warm water to remove detergent and when dry a good wipe with methylated spirit. Hope this helps.

Can you cover varnished surfaces with this?

Asked by: BlackpoolDIY
Hi. Thank you for your recent enquiry. It would be advisable to apply a coat of Zinsser B-I-N (10130) to the varnished surfaces before applying the Perma-White. No sanding is required but you must ensure that the surface has been prepared sufficiently i.e., with hot soapy water then rinsed with fresh warm water to remove detergent and when dry a good wipe with methylated spirit. B-I-N can be applied with either a brush or roller at a coverage rate of approx. 10m²/L/coat. Once dried (minimum of 45 minutes) you can apply the Perma-White, 2 coats are recommended to providing a durable, cleanable, long lasting, non-yellowing finish. I hope this helps.

Can the Zinsser self-priming paint be applied to vinyl wall paper

Asked by: Anonymous
Hello, thank you for your enquiry. Unfortunately the Zinsser Self Priming Paint would not be suitable for application to vinyl wallpaper, it would not achieve a good enough key and could cause the edges of the paper to lift. We recommend a product designed specifically for application to wallpaper is sourced and checked that it can be applied to vinyl wallpaper. We trust this answers your question.
