Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sealed After we moved into this house and I was doing some much-overdue decorating I found bleeding through wall paint round a window where something weird had happened (historically) to the underlying plaster and the surface was all bubbled. Most odd. Other products were ineffective, but I found this BIN at Screwfix and invested. Brilliant! It's more than a year on and there's no sign of any recurrence of the problem. Then a friend mentioned a stain on his ceiling, which kept coming through and a decorator had not been able to seal. He was desperate. One application of BIN and there's no sign of it weeks later. Brownie points galore. I can't praise it enough!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does the job well but wear PSE Good primer, but it's not very nice to work with. Not a problem, just make sure you wear gloves and goggles.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good coverage and adherence used to cover previously stained wood. Good coverage and handy it dries quick but a bit too quick in warm environments. Time will tell if any stain leaches through.

There are a few circular spots where the paint seems darker than the rest of the wall. Can I use this product to go over those dark spots and then apply one or two coats of my top coat to the affected areas and then a whole final coat on the entire wall?

Answer:
This is difficult to answer as you have not stated what the cause of the dark spots are, if they are water stains for example then yes the Zinsser B-I-N Shellac Based primer could be used, we would recommend spot priming the stains with the B-I-N Primer then applying a full coat of B-I-N primer to a natural break prior to applying your topcoats. Spot priming then painting straight over with your emulsion could result in flashing of the spot primed areas through your decorative finish. If the problem is due to something like cold spots then the B-I-N would not be effective, we do not have a product that has been tested for this application.

Answer:
Zinsser BIN is a great stain blocking primer and can be used to block most types of staining. This can be applied over the Satinwood as a primer then a further coat of Satinwood can be applied over the BIN.
