Rated 5 out of 5 by from Intelligent lighting for LED's Led lights need clever dimmers and that's what you get with the Varilight Pro range. Its no different to an ordinary dimmer switch to install and fits into a standard back box so retrofitting is easy. You can use it straight from the box, but it's programmable features set it apart from other dimmers. Some LED dimmable lamps work better with trailing edge dimming technology and some with leading edge. This dimmer has the option for both technologies. Most Dimmable LED's drop out as they are dimmed below a certain level, this dimmer allows you to set the lowest level the lamps work at , you can also limit how bright they will turn on to. My opinion is this is a brilliant dimmer, you can also buy the single modules to retrofit in older wall plates. Again my opinion this double dimmer is good value for money. However Screwfix needs to get the single unmounted module price down to match the other lower cost retailers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Preferred LED Dimmer Consistently the best performing LED dimmer I have fitted, silent in operation and smoothly dims pretty much all types of dimmable LED lamp. The faceplate blends with most brands of accessory and the modules themselves are compact meaning easier retro-fit into existing wall boxes. Only minor gripe is the method of entering the programming mode, can be easily done by the clumsier customer, as the lag on fade-up prompts people to push the button multiple times which then puts the unit into programming mode, giving confusing signals to the uninitiated !

Rated 5 out of 5 by from V Pro Dimming Modules This dimmer switch has the Varilight V Pro dimming modules, recommended for dimming LED bulbs. Bear in mind a minimum load of 10 watts per light switch, some dim LED bulbs out there are less than 10 watts.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The answer to LED dimming Bought this to replace a conventional dimmer that sort-of worked with dimmable LEDs, as long as at least one halogen (50W) bulb was left in the circuit. That unit failed eventually. The new one performs perfectly with 100% LEDs in the circuit, well worth the extra cost. Can't comment on reliability as too little time has passed.

Does your dimmer only work up to 10 bulbs or is the 100W capacity the important part?

Answer:
Hello CharlieDIYite, thanks for your question. You should observe both when wiring your circuit, for example your 15 x 6W circuit will overload the dimmer, as even though it's under the 100W max it's over the 10 lamp max. A 6 x 20W circuit would also overload the dimmer, as even though it's under the 10 lamp max, it's over the 100W max. This is because a large amount of LED lamps can cause current spikes when they're turned on, which in turn can overload the dimmer. This is per module, however, so you can have 2 circuits of 1-10 lamps up to 100W on this product. Thanks for your interest in Varilight.

Dear Badger101. Thank you for your question. Varilight LED Dimmers can be used to control 1-10 dimmable LED bulbs up to a maximum of 100W. A single 2W LED has been tested on our dimmer and works well. Whilst we have not tested every available bulb on the market, our dimmers have been found to work with 95% of dimmable LEDs on the market. Thank you for your interest in Varilight products.

the specification documentation says if in doubt use 2 to 10 lamps per gang or 100W whichever is lower I'm looking to have 6 5W LED bulbs per gang so wanted to clarify if this switch will be suitable for my needs?

Hello rom1s. Thank you for your question. Varilight LED Dimmers can be used to control 1-10 dimmable LED bulbs up to a maximum of 100W. 6 x 5W would equal 30W; both of which are within the limits of the dimmer. Whilst we have not tested every available bulb on the market, our dimmers have been found to work with 95% of dimmable LEDs on the market. Thank you for your interest in Varilight products.
