Rated 1 out of 5 by from Failed after 7 months use As others have said, this is poor quality. Mine failed after 7 months of very occassional use. The element has gone open circuit. Unfortunately I bought it a while before fitting it so it is out of warranty. I will be looking elsewhere for a replacement. Junk - dont buy it. Real shame because I have bought tons of stuff from screwfix and it has all been excellent, apart from this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy Element Just wanted a low wattage heater element for our small towel rail radiator for use in the summer. This unit looks well made and fitted with ease. Warms the towel rail nicely. Just what the missus wanted and at a good price.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Failed After a Few Days After using this heater for a few days, it started to trip out the RCD. I have had to replace it with another heating element from another company.

Your last answer did not answer the question. My radiator works off the central heating and is full of water. It is 45cm wide x 91cm tall. What is a suitable element to use for summertime drying of towels?

Answer:
Hello Downsizers,

As my colleague advised in the previous answer, the element is not determined by the size of the radiator, but it's heat output in watts.

The wattage is likely stated on instructions/documents supplied with the radiator, alternatively you could contact the manufacturer, who should be able to advise you of the watt output of your radiator or if it's one you bought from us, the watts are given in the spec on the website for most or you can call us on 03330 112 112 for any we've missed.

Once you know the watts, choose an element with lower or equal wattage. So this element (53016) is suitable for a radiator with an output of atleast 250W.

Thank you for using Q&A.

size of element

How do I decide which size (i.e power rating)? My radiators measure 45cm wide by 91cm tall.
Are they safe for wet-rooms?

Answer:
Hello Downsizers,

To determine which heating element you would need, you would need to know the wattage of your radiator. The element would need to have a wattage lower than, or equal to that of the radiator you were using.

Thank you for using Q&A.

Answer:
Hi Phef,

Just had a reply from our supplier, they stated that "The internal thermostat of our towel rail elements is set to 72°C touch temperature."

However due to the variables affecting how long it takes to heat up no definitive answer could be given as to a time.
