Rated 5 out of 5 by Nice Warm Towels !! good quality and reasonable priced which when installed with the element controller provides nice warm and dry towels throughout the summer 9 Jun 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by RUBBISH DO NOT BUY SCREWFIX ARE GREAT. NO PROBLEM THERE BUT LOOK AT THE REVIEWS OF THIS PRODUCT. FITTED IN JULY 2015. CALLBACK IN NOV 15 AS ELEMENT TRIPPING OUT HOME ELECTRICS. 9 Dec 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by Absolute rubbish. Generally pleased with Screwfix products but this is rubbish. Fitted into towel rail and after 2 hours could not tell if it was working or not. Purchased replacement and fitted that, same problem. Went to another supplier purchased and fitted their element and within 15 mins of turning on we had heat. I should have read the reviews first. Two elements will be going back tomorrow. Doesn't compensate me for time and travel though. 18 Nov 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by Poor quality I bought this element to go with an 1100 x 600 towel radiator. Out of the box the element shroud was discoloured with glue? When I went to fit the element I realised that it had no nut around the base so the only way to do it up would be by hand or with a set of grips which could cause damage. When I did the element up by hand the shroud came loose. When it was installed it did not warm up quick enough and seemed to be to low powered for this size of radiator, I have given it a low rating because the faults with the shroud coming loose and the fact that the shroud came away. 3 Nov 2015

Your last answer did not answer the question. My radiator works off the central heating and is full of water. It is 45cm wide x 91cm tall. What is a suitable element to use for summertime drying of towels?

Answer:
Hello Downsizers,

As my colleague advised in the previous answer, the element is not determined by the size of the radiator, but it's heat output in watts.

The wattage is likely stated on instructions/documents supplied with the radiator, alternatively you could contact the manufacturer, who should be able to advise you of the watt output of your radiator or if it's one you bought from us, the watts are given in the spec on the website for most or you can call us on 03330 112 112 for any we've missed.

Once you know the watts, choose an element with lower or equal wattage. So this element (53016) is suitable for a radiator with an output of atleast 250W.

Thank you for using Q&A.

size of element

How do I decide which size (i.e power rating)? My radiators measure 45cm wide by 91cm tall.
Are they safe for wet-rooms?

Answer:
Hello Downsizers,

To determine which heating element you would need, you would need to know the wattage of your radiator. The element would need to have a wattage lower than, or equal to that of the radiator you were using.

Thank you for using Q&A.

Answer:
Hi Phef,

Just had a reply from our supplier, they stated that "The internal thermostat of our towel rail elements is set to 72°C touch temperature."

However due to the variables affecting how long it takes to heat up no definitive answer could be given as to a time.
