Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good good value shredder Tremendous value. Seems solid and up to the job although I have to date only used it 3 times albeit with a mountain of branches each time. Reasonably quiet too. Cannot think why anybody should want to pay more unless they are a professional gardener.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good, can't source blades Worked well, munched a whole trees branches. Got through this well, though blades dulled at end making the process less efficient. To stop issues when turning off and on had to leave running a while to clear debris and if blocked up then b a need front to loosen. No problems really, cut through larger branches fine. Only issue seems to be sourcing new blades, screwed don't have and have looked online. Most places look for a screwed link that is dead now, or are out of stock. Tried titan pro as in Q&As but they don't know the machine... other places are out of stock..... For casual domestic use it is fine, but due to lack of blades not a trade item.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from First one of these failed I was attracted by the low price and features for a garden shredder the purchase price of which equates to the hire of a more substantial machine for a day or two. The wheels are not the easiest to fit, but other than that the unit is straight forward to build. Having read previous reviews I anticipated that it would struggle with any leafy material, which having tested it proved to be correct. This means that all of the sticks or branches that you put through it have to be pared back to relatively bare material, otherwise it doesn't shred properly and blocks the exit. I found the machine did exceptionally well on its first days use and cleared a significant amount of material, but started to trip out towards the end of the day. On the second day of use the thermal cut out was tripping from the start and the motor started to smell as though there was an electrical problem. I returned it to Screwfix who as ever were brilliant in refunding it. I've put it down to a faulty motor and have taken a second unit to try again. Worth doing at this price. If you are likely to give the shredder light use and have it as part of your garden tools and equipment then this probably is the one for you, try it and see, based on others reviews. As the product failed on day 2 after a successful days shredding I'm going to give it another try. I will review further once I've tested and proven my replacement machine. Meanwhile the jury is out on whether or not I would recommend this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A tree's nightmare! Brilliant bit of DIY kit. It clogged afew times in the output shoot, so I cut off the fins inside, problem solved, it worked a treat after that and it really can chip a 45mm branch!

Will this shredder cut through bamboo stalks?

Asked by: Clares46
Hello Clares46, The instructions for the Titan Electric Garden Shredder say that it is capable of cutting 'fibrous and woody garden waste' up to a maximum diameter of 45mm. So provided the bamboo stalks are less than 45mm thick, this shredder should be capable of cutting through them. Thank you for using Q&A

Anyone used this to shred backup tapes?

Strange question, I know.
Asked by: Dbro984
No. It's a rotating impact shredding blade - i.e. a disc with razor blades mounted in gaps. It works on solid material - tree branches, etc, and needs constant pressure applying to feed them through. If you tried to shred tapes they will just wrap around the disc and jam the whole thing up. You'll need a heavy duty office shredder for destroying storage tapes, which use rollers to grind the material up.
