Rated 1 out of 5 by from If IKEA did vacs... We got this because we have decking outside the conservatory and my wife thought a wet and dry vac would mean less faffing about when cleaning up the decking... I can't fault her logic, but I didn't expect that we'd end up with the flat pack equivalent of a vacuum cleaner and have to put it together ourselves! For a start, the handles. Would it have been TOO much trouble for someone to have already screwed the handles in place? As it is, you have to fiddle about screwing them from inside the drum while holding the plastic handle in place on the outside. Because you're screwing straight into the plastic, it cross threads almost as soon as you look at it, and you have to keep unscrewing it and screwing it up again to get the handle in the right place. The screws are tinny, the cut in the head where the screwdriver goes is narrow, with the result it keeps slipping and chewing up the head of the screw. Then there are the castors. The instructions blithely say to press them down until they click in place around the rim, and then screw the big screw and washer into place to hold it. It took the combined weight of two people AND several whacks from a handy rubber mallet before it would just "click into place" and then, the first time we did it, after we'd put in the screws and washers and tightened it all up, we stood it upright and one of the castors fell off! So we ended up having to do them all over again. This is in addition to having to mark out where they go on the bottom of the canister "with a felt pen or pencil" as it says in the bumff. Why not just pre-mark it in manufacturing, before you put the bottom on? I realise this is a relatively cheap product, but it took an hour and a half out of my life that I won't get back and which I can't invoice anybody for, in putting it together, so it's not that good a bargain. In summary, if you don't mind the frustration of part building your own vacuum cleaner from a kit, and you've an hour to spare and a handy rubber mallet, then this is probably for you. It sucks, it blows, yes, right enough. But you may find yourself better off buying one where the manufacturers could be bothered to finish building it first.

Wich is better for a house vacuum this one or the 800w dry only one thankyou

Asked by: Anonymous
Hello, Both vacuums have their merits, this one of course has the more powerful motor and can be used for vacuuming liquids as well, the 800W dry only vac has the automatic cord retraction and is a little more compact, has metal tubes and is supplied with a round brush, crevice tool and dual surface head, whereas the wet & dry 1300W vac is supplied with plastic tubes, a crevice tool and 1 wet & dry head. Both have great reviews, but which you choose is really a matter of personal choice and what you want to use the vacuum for. Thanks for using Q&A, KC

Where can I get new hose to fit to tools

Asked by: Plant1
Hello Plant1, This vacuum has a hose of 32mm so it will require an adapter taking the 32mm hose to the port on your tool. Unfortunately we do not stock these, however they can be found by searching "dust extractor hose adapter" in an online search engine. Thank you for using Q and A, EC.

What efficiency is this vacuum?

Is it safe for use with disc, belt sander. What is the filtration e.g. how many many microns. Thank you.
Asked by: Olliegood
Hi Olliegood, This product will be safe to use with a belt sander. The instructions for our Titan wet and dry vacuum cleaners state 'Fine dust, such as dust from cement, soot and plaster are too fine to be used with only the foam sleeve and risk getting into the motor and damaging it, thereby, nullifying the vacuum cleaner’s guarantee. Therefore always use a dust collection bag when cleaning these types of materials.' This implies that the spare filter bag is not necessary for coarser dry materials, although it is always best to use one if you can. Thank you for using Q&A. JBT.

Can you buy more efficent filters for this vacuum?

I am going to use this vacuum for vacuuming dust and dust extraction on saws and sanders. Do you sell cartridge (paper style) filters for this machine or will the foam filter with a bag do fine?
Asked by: Olliegood
Hi Ollie, We do not supply a more efficient version of our bags (71929) or our cartridge filters (47715) however both are used normally for efficient filtration of fast removal of fine dust, dirt and debris. Thank you for using Q&A.
