Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good quality fittings I've used the plastic version in the past but found they are not very good. These are so much easier with their ability to self tap. Having to buy 100 at a time works out expensive when you only need a small number, but they will keep one going until retirement. The Screws are a little long and if they hit the bottom of the fitting they jam - so be warned you need a large item to screw through these to the fitting in the plasterboard.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I always use this brand Like these and always use this brand. Top tip: As with any of the driva's do a small drill pilot hole before screwing them into plasterboard otherwise they may just go off centre.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Quick, effective and secure I've used the plastic version in the past and when I could not find them this time I bought these instead. These are so much easier with their ability to self tap, avoiding the hassle of creating a pilot hole and the accompanying dust. Having to buy 100 at a time works out quite expensive when you only wanted a handful but it will keep one going for a few years to come.

I could not drive the supplied 50mm screw beyond the length of the fixing leaving 27mm of the screw out of the wall. Was I not driving hard enough?!

Asked by: IanDIYfixer
Hi IanDIYfixer, thank you for your question. The length of the fixing is 31mm, the screw is not designed to go through the end of the of the fixing. The maximum fixture thickness is 27mm, to achieve a flush finish, the minimum fixture thickness would need to be 19mm, when using the 50mm x 4.5mm screw provided. Please ensure that the thickness of the suitable base material is a minimum of 10mm, the screw diameter used is 4.5mm and that the maximum fixture thickness of 27mm is not exceeded. Always ensure that the fixing and base material are suitable for the loading required. Kind regards ITW.

Driva fixings

What is the best driva fitting to use to hang a kitchen wall unit on a single plasterboard wall the max weight of the unit is 24kg
Asked by: Steve1432
Hi Steve1432, thank you for your question. The Spit Driva Plus (Screwfix code 31546) rather than the Driva TF27 could can be used for this application, under the following conditions; the recommended loading of 18Kg per fixings, based in standard 12.5mm plasterboard, is not exceed, the maximum fixture thickness of 12mm is not exceed and there is sufficient cavity behind the plasterboard to ensure the fixing fully engages. As with all fixings please ensure the base material and fixings are suitable for the application. Kind regards ITW.
