Rated 5 out of 5 by from Woodworm treatment Easy to apply, no strong odour like others and hopefully rid us of our issue. Got mainly for suspected woodworm but thought would cover all bases with an overall treatment and gone off other reviews recommending product. Will be using in future

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Treats the lot Excellent product i have used this several times before and it is a life saver if you ever come across dry rot. I have used it on none affected timbers and affected timbers. it does the job well. It is certainly worth treating any new timbers with this too if they are going into a building that has had dry rot too as the spores will soon seek out the new wood and you would be back to square one. it ain't cheap but does go a long way but with the types of rot it treats you need a big can or a few to coat and double coats the effected and surrounding areas walls etc. but needs must or you ll be back again retreating and repairing if you don't use it . it does have a small smell to it but soon passes and it is over paint able to no need to stress about final finish or oily residues from alternative products as there is hardly any colour change to the wood once dried.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hope it works... Only time will tell if this does the trick. Low odour and goes in easily. Used to treat a few beams and joists that had been subject to local water damage over a period and were inaccessible to replace after I fixed the roof.

can this be used near bitumen roofing felt?
Asked by: Ubik
It is solvent free so should not damage the felt but is intended to be applied to timber only.

Can this be used on a ply garage roof?

I have a new ply roof on a garage that has been felted and I have noticed some mould growing on the underside. Would this be suitable to protect against future growth?
Asked by: Rennie96
It will provide some protection but needs to be absorbed into the timber to be effective. This amount it is absorbed will depend upon the type of plywood and any surface coatings. Maybe you can also look at insulating the plywood to prevent condensation which may well be the cause of the mould.

How does this differ from the lower cost product Sika Wood Preserver (Screwfix £22.99 compared to £34.99) I require a product to preserve new timber for a garden shed

Asked by: rayjay
The Wood Preserver is ideal for a new shed and will provide protection against wood rot and decay. A new shed may have already been coated or treated in some way by the manufacturer and there would probably be little point in applying another coating right now, maybe better to do so in a few years time. The more expensive Universal Wood Treatment also provides protection against wood boring insects as well wet & dry rot even when some is established.
