Rated 1 out of 5 by from Rubbish Having acquired a used garden shredder and having to remove the cutting disc and the screws to remove the blades to sharpen, some of the screws were stuck fast. These extractors were bought to get them out. Absolute rubbish. What your supposed to do is drill a hole in the screw, insert the extractor bit in hole and apply 'torque' in an anti clockwise direction via a tap wrench or spanner. The teeth on the bit are meant to bite & grip into the screw so the screw can be turned. In this case all that happened is that the bit simply turns inside and never bites. Thus after 2 weeks the screws remain firmly attached to the disc. A professional engineer friend even had a go and he couldn't even do it either. Not a happy bunny, especially as now the disc has to be taken to a professional engineers to be done with all the extra cost. These extractor bits have now been discarded. A complete waste of money. The irony is that by the time the problem is sorted out, the total cost would have been more that a brand new shredder would have cost. To say I am very angry would be an under statement!.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from You get what you pay for! As the title says you get what you pay for and this product didn't work at all for me. The predrilled hole just stripped the extractor. Save your money and go for the grabit set.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from screw /bolt extractors great tool for extracting some people say cheap and not too strong .What do they expect for the cost ,maybe they are not experienced enough to know how much pressure etc.to apply I've not had any problems with them but that may be because of my 50 years experience in the electrical trade.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Does not work if . . . . This set will not work if the screw or bolt you want to extract is made of harder metal than the bits. As the bits are cheap soft metal then there will be a lot of screws/bolts this set just can't remove as the thread just strips away. Useless for removing a hex nut from a mountain bike. Off to get a refund.

Asked by: Jimmygavinyuu
Hello Jimmygavinyuu. Unfortunately the screw extractor set will not work if your screws/bolts are left handed thread. this set is designed for screws/bolts that are standard right hand thread. Thank you for using Q&A.

What material is the tip made from

Needs to be tough enough to handle decking screws which PRO GRABIT could not handle. i.e. The boring end took ages to grid the head to a smooth hollow The grabbing end could not grip in order to remove the screw.
Asked by: Skif
Hello Skif, The tip is made from Carbon Steel. I hope this information helps. Thank you for using Q and A.

How am I supposed to use these? Haven't got anything to attach them to, except a drill, which isn't working! Really need to get these screws out!

Asked by: Petch
You need to use a tap wrench. Not a drill.
