Roughneck Splitting Maul 8Lb
Excellent - does exactly what it said it would do. Even on wet logs split them easily.

Could be great! If it lasted
I have owned two of these axes and both have had to be returned after a year of occasional use due to the resin that attaches the head to the shaft breaking up and the head flying off ( could be very dangerous!) Its a shame as this does a fantastic job but is definitely not going to last a long time if you are using it for its intended purpose of splitting logs. Screw fix have been great as always in returning faulty products.

Great until the head fell off
I bought this about 18 months ago. In this time I imagine it's been used for maybe 20-30 hours, in 1 hour (ish) blocks.
I was using it today and the head started to work loose, so I bashed it back on again a few times until I picked it up and the head fell off the handle. Fortunately it didn't happen when I was swinging it through the air. Now I have to work out how to get the head back onto the handle I have or another handle. Not very impressed with something that like others have said I thought would last me for years.

I have put off buying a splitting maul for a number of years and have persevered with a felling axe.... Why? Why? Why?
The weight and shape off the maul make it easy to split big logs, even when still green. The roughneck is well made and hopefully will last a long time, so £30 well spent.
