versatile rad tail
This is a good product at a good price. the pipe section is adjustable simply by pulling or pushing and is ready to receive an elbow or other compression fitting.
I feel this level of versatility could be better highlighted in the online and hard copy catalogue.

Helped me fit smaller rad due to metric and imperial differences

Radiator Compres'n Valve Tail
Ref 10954 Radiator Compression Valve Tail.
I've just replaced an existing Imperial sized Radiator with a Metric one. My usual trade plumbing suppliers did not supply such a simple fitting like this; Screwfix did.
The Tail is exactly what I was looking for; Adjustable in length. The moving portion is a tube and that tube slides inside the main screw body that screws into the Radiator; sealing is achieved by two internal "O" rings that allow movement for adjustment in installation.
I used PTFE tape wound clockwise around the threaded end six times and then tightened the fitting up tight into the Radiator. The threaded end also has an "O" ring so when you tighten the threads up the "O" ring also forms a seal; in this case additional sealing is achieved by using PTFE tape.
The other end fits into the valve; i.e. TRV Flow valve and Lockshield Return valve; I don't tend to use PTFE tape there as the copper olive tightened up does the trick to seal the joint.
I am assured that the "O" rings will do the job under pressure of a hot/warm Sealed system Combination heated centrally heated system set at 1 to 1.5 bar on the boiler.
I have further work to do and have yet to pressure test the system and re-fill it with water.
My conclusion at this time; This is exactly what is needed to connect iimperial radiators to Metric Radiators where the Metric usually smaller in overall Width; i.e. Left to Right Measurement of Radiator.
I have entered 4 star ratings for performance and reliability because this website does not allow me to leave them with none; this because I have not yet filled the system and run it but assume it will do the job.
