Should you wish to reduce existing scale and inhibit future scale build-up, you may want to consider the BWT Electronic Scale Reducer (product code: 13487) to install onto the pipework supplying a particular area such as your electric shower. This will start to inhibit the build-up of future limescale immediately after it is installed. Please note: Removal of existing scale build-up can be a slow process and will depend on the level of deposits.

Can this be used for potable water (calling it combi care seems misleading !) ?

Answer: 
The Combi-care is suitable for potable water and is WRAS approved so is perfectly safe for use in the drinking water supply – however as this is a dosing product it adds trace amounts of a protective chemical to the water and so will not improve drinking water taste as it will add to the existing chemicals and minerals in the drinking water. Use for drinking water is not the product’s primary function. The primary function of the device is to help protect boilers and heat exchangers from hard scale build up.
