Bought it to make some plugs in oak to fill holes in new staircase, not really up to cutting hardwood even if used slowly with care. ok for pine etc.

Bought these today in order to cut some 15mm plugs to fill reudendant holes left by and old radiator. I agree they need a fair amount of pressure on the drill to get them to cut through and my wood did start to burn. The end result i did get a decent plug which i've been able to use. Hve not used any other plug cutters to be able to compare but would have hoped these would work their way through the wood without needing to apply so much pressure.... But maybe thats how they are intended to work.

I'll be returning these at some point as all the do is burn through ANY wood. I wanted to plug some Mdf holes but all it did was nearly set the house alight!! Even on slow speed and the correct drill they were terrible!! What waste of my money and time.

If you're thinking about buying these cutters, don't do it, they are worse than useless. Even on a pillar drill at slow speed with a clamped piece of oak they're shockingly bad. To say they're blunt is an understatement, but if you like the smell of oak burning these cutters are for you!
