Rated 5 out of 5 by No More Penetrating Damp Used on sandstone property that was forever showing damp patches on internal walls even though wall is 18 inches deep. The reason, no cavity just sandstone walls filled with rubble. Let them dry out over a few days of sunshine and applied two coats over 2 days. Each year just apply a further coat. No more problems now for 3 years. Excellent product. 26 Aug 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Better than water based This is like the brand-leader used to be 15+ years ago. It smells like diesel and penetrates deeply. I used on bottom 5-10 courses of bricks on an old house after waiting for summer weather to dry out the damp patches. These old bricks soak up water like a sponge. I applied by pouring slowly from a disposable plastic cup and let it trickle down while soaking in and outwards. Once applied, the brickwork has a darker wet look that gradually fades over days/weeks and beads water the same day of applications. 6 Aug 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Works just like the old stuff It works just like the old oil based Thompsons sealer. Proper stuff and easy to apply. 3 Aug 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by It works! Water was leaking under the concrete panels of my garage, so I thought I would give this product a try seen as it was fairly cheap. After 2 decent applications around the outside edge I no longer get wet floors on rainy days, it works perfectly as described. I've used what was left on some wood panels in my basement and it keeps the moisture out no problem. Just make sure you use it in a very well ventilated area when applying it. ***** A very useful product, going to pick some more up today. ***** 28 Jul 2016

Answer:
Hi Nigel180,

The No Nonsense Water Repellent Seal is designed to repel liquids. This will likely cause poor adhesion of the paint, resulting in a poor finish and peeling/flakey paint. Depending on the type of paint you use, you may be able to apply the seal as a top coat. We would suggest applying a small test patch in an inconspicuous area, either way around.

Hello Glend,

Every installation/usage is different due to the varying circumstances of the site and environment.

Therefore we advise that you contact a local tradesperson who will be able to view and assess your particular requirements. They will be able to provide further advice for the installation/usage of the water seal

I am concerned that my red sandstone chimney stacks are becoming porous and wonder if, after re-pointing, it would be worthwhile to treat he whole chimney stack. Should the pointing be given time to dry before applying the waterproofer?
