It's a real shame that Screwfix didn't buy more of these as they're getting hard to find. Thr performance is excellent and it's light enough to use overhead and for extended periods. Really, very, very impressed.

The Makita SDS Drill is ideal for so many jobs when renovating a new home. With the 10 piece drill and chisel set you can started right away. Bringing up the old garden paths and chasing wires in was so simple with this light weight but very powerful tool. Not had it very long so only 4 stars for reliability so far.

I bought my first house earlier this year and so have had to scale up the amount of DIY I do. Getting a decent base-level set of tools was key. Having had Makita recommended by some friends who work in the trade and seeing this on offer I plumped for this SDS corded drill to take on the heavier work I'd need to do in the house and garden.
The carry case is sturdy yet light, the drill fits in neatly (no issues with the cord poking out he edges etc) and there's ample space for a few bits and extras too. The bundled set of chisels and drill bits are solid and hardy.
I had an issue whereby one of the bundled bits was bent straight out of the box, but Screwfix swapped it over quick as a flash with no messing around. Can't argue with that.
The drill itself is chunky and weighty (3kg) but thanks to an amazingly well-modelled handle, trigger and adjustable forearm grip it sits nicely in the hands and is comfortable to hold and move about. Controls are easily accessible and satisfying to operate.
In terms of performance it is incredible; on hammer drill mode it cuts cleanly into brick etc with so little judder or kickback you hardly feel you're drilling as quickly and deeply as you are. I have never used a tool like this - similarly-specced corded hammer drills like Bosch and Black & Decker do not come close to this. It just flies into whatever you're drilling into and doesn't need much exterior force at all. The drill remains cool even after extended use and the chuckless SDS bit change process is swift and fluid.
This tool is an absolute joy to use; both beautiful and powerful. I'd recommend this to anyone.
