Is it possible to join using solvent? If so what solvent?

Asked by: bsamba
Thank you for your enquiry. We recommend that you do not use solvent based glue to join the Liteglaze. You can use adhesive tape or adhesive sealant but definitely not a solvent based product.

How do you cut this product?

Asked by: bigbaddave
Liteglaze can be cut following either of the guidelines below: 1) Score - clamp the sheet to a firm flat surface to avoid slipping. Using a cutting knife with a scoring blade against a firm straight edge, carefully score the sheet until nearly halfway through, and right up to the edges. Then place the sheet on a firm, flat table with the score line uppermost, along the edge of the table. Apply even pressure downwards to break the sheet along the scored line. 2) Saw – sheets can be sawn singly or several sheets stacked together. Use an electric saw or a handsaw with a fine toothed blade at a shallow angle. For cutting curves, use an electric jigsaw which has a scrolling feature.

Does the 2mm sheet bend?

Asked by: Dazzler1945
Hi there and thank you for your question. Liteglaze is not rigid like glass and will flex slightly. Liteglaze can be cold curved. The minimum cold curve radius is equal to 330 times the sheet thickness. Therefore for 2mm sheet the recommended cold curve radius is 660mm. Curving sheets to a tighter radius than this leads to shattering, buckling and stress levels which will reduce the impact resistance and service life of the sheet.

Can it be drilled? I want to fix it to an aviary roof.

Asked by: 1cymro1
Hello and thank you for your question. Yes, Liteglaze can be drilled. Our fixing guide makes the following recommendations: Slow speed power drills or hand drills are both suitable for drilling Glazing Sheets and should be used with a metal working bit. Prevent the drill point from skipping by marking the hole position with a bradawl or by applying a small piece of adhesive tape where the hole is to be made. Use light pressure and back the sheet with a piece of wood to help prevent the sheet from chipping where the drill bit emerges. Make holes 3mm larger than fixings to allow for thermal movement.

Wiil this product bend to go over an arched smoking shelter and can it be easily cut to size?

Asked by: Anonymous
Liteglaze can be cold curved. The minimum cold curve radius is equal to 330 times the sheet thickness. Curving sheets to a tighter radius than this leads too shattering, buckling and stress levels which will reduce the impact resistance and service life of the sheet. It will also make it more prone to chemical attack. Suitable measurements as follows: 2mm – 660mm radius, 3mm – 990mm, 4mm – 1320mm, 5mm – 1650mm, 6mm – 1980mm, 8mm – 2640mm, 10mm – 3300mm, 12mm – 3960mm.

what do you use to cut this item

Asked by: kenny24628021
Thank you for your question. You can cut or saw these sheets. For cutting, carefully score the sheet until nearly halfway through and right up to the edges, using a cutting knife with scoring blade against a firm straight edge, clamping the sheet to avoid slipping - best to score the sheet against a firm flat surface. Apply pressure downwards to break sheet, supporting sheet fully along scoreline. Any irregularities can be smoothed with an emery board or filing plane. For sawing, use an electric jigsaw or handsaw at a shallow angle. We advise sawing if just a thin strip needs to be removed. For cutting curves use an electric jigsaw which has a scrolling feature. Set the pendulum stroke to zero and when cutting curves always ensure the sheet is fully supported. Thank you.
