Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good but not great First off, don't count on just switching on and using this multimeter. It comes with a battery but the voltage on the battery in mine was so low that it would not even display the digits, and I had to go and buy a new battery. It has a decent number of ranges, including 200 V a.c. for 110 V work and 600 V a.c. for 230 V work. As others have commented, it lacks an audible continuity setting, something I miss. I appreciate that the low ohms setting does the same job but the beep is a quick way of checking continuity. Oddly, it beeps when you touch a live 240 V point! The pointed probes are quite well insulated but it would be nice to have a crocodile clip attachment for the neutral lead so that you could test circuit voltages with one hand. It comes with a moulded cover offering some protection against falls and including a prop stand, which is handy. To remove the battery, you need to unscrew three screws (not two as in the manual). I fear that these will not last for more than two or three battery changes as the heads are pretty soft, but the back could be taped on and the cover will hold it in place. I'm replacing my old multimeter whose removable battery cover has disappeared. It appears accurate based on my brief testing of mains voltage and resistance of 1% metal film resistors.

How to change the battery

The user's manual reads "to replace battery & fuse remove the 2 screws in the bottom of the case". I cannot see any screws anywhere in the case.

Fault Finding

Would this be suitable and easy enough to use for fault finding? Or would a voltage tester suffice like this one? http://www.screwfix.com/p/lap-ms8907-voltage-detector-pen/3222g#product_additional_details_container Thanks
