needed a reasonably cheap timer and this seemed to fit the bill. 24 hour, 7 day programme.
just needed 2 screws and plastic wall plugs. fitted in 10 minutes.

I ordered this last Monday, fitted it on Wednesday and it failed (no output) on Friday after being turned on to manual and later returned to auto. Re-setting it made no difference.
This timer was ordered after the second of 2 mechanical timers had failed since late March. All 3 timers were branded LAP, which seems to be the only make Screwfix supply. I'm now buying from a different supplier.
Having helpful call-centre staff and a good returns/exchange policy is of little value if the product quality is so poor.

The timer is reasonably priced, robust, and has good program options, including the OFF/on/Auto button, and the summer winter quick change setting.
From a technical point of view itâs disappointing, as I have had it 24 hours and on the way back to screwfix branch to exchange it, as the display is incomplete and the day setting cannot be seen at all.
The wiring connection is fiddly, but it does have 2 knock outs inside the termination area, so can be made nice and neat.
The display ought to be bigger, as this is its main down side.
There are also cable clamps and knock outs in the termination cover.
Just be aware that the power in is on the right (Up arrow symbol), and switched power out is on the left with a (down arrow symbol).
You have to allow 14 hours for the backup battery to charge, not sure if this runs the display as I had issues with the display numbers (top of numbers missing), which I assumed was a flat battery, but this wasnât the case.
Suggest its worth wiring the incoming supply first, power it up, and check the display digits are ok, and all the days can be seen ok, before final connections and programming are done.
Get a good torch, or lit magnifying glass to complete the time and programming as the display is very small!

I purchased this as a replacement as I needed one quickly after my last one packed up after 10+ years of use. It was easy to install and although the display is a bit on the small side with the aid of a torch in my airing cupboard it set up easily. It worked well and I had no problems until 10 months had passed and I had no hot water. Initially I thought the heater element had gone as it is at least 15 years old but on checking there was no power coming out of the timer. I tried a re-set in case it was that easy but unfortunately it wasn't. I would not buy another, at £19.99 for 10 months use there is no value in that. I didn't keep the receipt as I didn't expect this to happen. My new timer has cost me almost twice as much but was recommended to me for it's reliability.
