Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for Farmers Markets I've used this generator for three months and it's been wonderful. It powers my Potters wheel which I take to Farmers markets. The new one is an exchange as the last one developed a fault. The new one runs a lot better from the box. Screwfix were wonderful with the situation and changed the item without delay. Customer services were good and helped by sending a copy receipt by email to facilitate the exchange and advising which local branch had the item available. At the Taunton (Crown) Branch the exchange was made in minutes without fuss. The only questions were "What went wrong?" and had the oil and fuel been drained prior to return?. In and out in about 5 minutes and highly delighted. Screwfix customer services highly recomended!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from LOUD!! I am an electrician but purchased this for a caravan holiday. The main reason for choosing this product was that it is advertised as quiet. It charges and runs fine. The fiddly bit of finding and filling the oil a bit frustration having to unscrew the orange side panel. It chugged quite happily charging a caravan. I tried it at a little less than 700w with a power tool and quickly shut it off as it didn't particularly like it. Revving hard to keep up the power. My main issue with the unit, and my reason for returning it to store, was the noise. It was advertised as quiet. The packaging says 56db. Once you run it it is very obviously not quiet. In fact labels on the machine and instructions give the sound as over 90db. When I started this on a camp site it caused people 100m or so away to turn and look. OK for a site but definitely not a quiet suitcase genny, Very disappointed. Looks the part but fails to achieve what it is advertised as.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Almost Perfect! I bought this when I spotted it on offer at my local store. I couldn't believe how light it was compared to my existing 800w generator. the fact that it was 4-stroke added to the appeal. I nearly didn't buy it after reading the spec in the catalogue, as it stated a run time of just 2hrs! Luckily, the website has the correct run time of 4hrs (under full load). I wanted it to run a fridge when camping, so after filling, I ran it connected to the fridge where it ran for around 10hrs! Overall, I'm very pleased with it, BUT there is a downside. Its not very quiet. Whilst not the loudest I've experienced in this output class, Its far louder than the 2-stroke model its replacing. I have a spare silencer that I should be able to add in series to the existing one so it shouldn't be a problem next time I go away. But if quietness is important, you might want to look elsewhere. As for reliability, I've only used it twice, so can't really comment.

I'm interested to know how long this unit will run for under a very small load, say 40W.

Is any stats on how long it would run for sat idle for example?

Answer:
Sorry but we do not have testing data for this however calculations suggest this runtime under the load you suggest would be >10hrs. Although this cannot be guaranteed as its an estimation based on current data.
