Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome connectors These connectors are inexpensive, very quick and easy to use (time-saver) and permitted by Part P BS7671 electrical regs for use in inaccessible / hidden locations (which choc block are not). They are neat and tidy and use little space (less that a choc block). They don't come undone with 50Hz mains frequency vibration. I have used loads to extend cable and join cable behind switches etc. They work for most cable conductors, solid or stranded in domestic use.

Answer:
Hi, the SpliceLine in-line connector is not suitable for fine stranded (flex) wires. SpliceLine is designed for use with solid wires from 0.5mm2 to 2.5mm2 and course stranded wires from 1.00mm2 to 2.5mm2. If you require a connector for use with fine stranded wires we suggest the IDEAL Lever wire connectors (search for 3526G, 4198G, 6502G or 6472G)

Answer:
Our understanding of the current regs is that the consumer unit itself acts as the enclosure. However, if space permits, for a 'belts & braces' solution, using an enclosure would provide extra protection and safety.

Answer:
The SpliceLine connector is suitable for solid conductors ranging from 0.5mm² - 2.5mm² and stranded conductors (<7 strands or less but not multi strand / flex) ranging 1.0mm² - 2.5mm². Metric equivalent to 22AWG wire is smaller than 0.5mm². We would recommend the IDEAL In-Sure Lever style connectors which accept conductors from 0.2mm² - 2.5mm² and accept fine stranded conductors. 2, 3 & 5 port versions are all available via Screwfix. http://www.screwfix.com/search?search=ideal+lever+connectors

Answer:
Thank you for your enquiry. The connector is designed to securely grip the wire to prevent it from working loose under a direct pull action. However, if the wire is gently pulled in conjunction with a twist motion, the wire can be released and re-inserted.
