Horstmann HRFS1 Programmable Room Thermostat
Simple to install/program
This was a pretty straight forward piece of kit to install, it's been in a couple of weeks with no problem. The only slight issue I had was getting it to operate in manual mode (It always reverts to program when a time period rolls round). This doesn't matter for me but I could see it being a pain for somebody who is just after direct temperature control.
Great value for money though, looks neat and seems durable.

Inaccurate & sluggish
Tried this in a small two-bedroom appartment and large four-bedroom house.
First complaint is that the six programmes have to be set up independently for each day of the week, no copy function.
It only displays temperature to 0.5C and controls to +-0.5C at best. The unit is very slow to respond to changes in room temperature which results in a large over-swing of 2C or more, even in the large house. The smaller thermal load in the appartment resulted in a larger over-swing and a shiver-and-sweat cycle.
Dumped it after a couple of days testing at each location and installed a much cheaper wireless unit from a different source having 0.1C reading and switching resolution which gives much better control. It is also more user-friendly to set up and operate and has the facility to calibrate the temperature sensor.

Best wireless room stat I've s
Had two Drayton wireless stats that were useless as the signal dropped out almost daily regardless of where they were sited. Bought this as a replacement and has never dropped the signal, not even when battery was low. Only slight niggle is awkward battery changing but first lot lasted nearly two years so not really a problem. Buy it! Worked at many addresses with all sorts of stats but this is the best in my opinion.
