Rated 4 out of 5 by from Value for money A basic programmable thermostat that does everything that most people need at a very good price. Easy to install and program. Change the batteries once a year and you will have no problems but you only have a few seconds to install the new batteries before the current program is lost. Make sure that the new ones are in your hand ready.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Too complicated for home use Good features, but complicated to program, with tiny display and made worse by hopeless documentation. There is no mains power, and it looses its entire program when the batteries are replaced and so needs setting up from scratch. Does nothing useful until reprogrammed. Very disappointing product from a big rich company that can and usually does make better products.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best product for the price This thermostat is by far the best value for money product on the market and Screwfix offer it at the best price I could find. It is very easy to install and has enough features to provide very good overall flexible control that is needed to keep your home warm and cool when you need it to.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Horstmann DRT2 I bought this to replace the previous model which stopped working after a couple of years use. For the price, it cannot be beaten as it's packed with features and is simple to install. The build quality of the device is a bit questionable and I dare say the componentry is cheap but it is what it is. Beware when installing, I found the wiring diagram in the instructions and and the back of the gadget to be incorrect. Follow the label on the terminals to wire correctly. This differs from the instructions. Would I recommend this product? Yes I would on price and features.

Answer:
You can leave the central heating on all the time and have it solely controlled by this thermostat, or combine it with an existing timer (if fitted).

I installed mine with an existing traditional (not combi) boiler with a timer. I tried both options, but found it best to have the hot water coming on twice a day and leave the C/H on all the time. This works fine, but the night temperature has to be low otherwise you wake up in the very early hours roasting!
