Honeywell ST699 Programmer
Does the job
Basic controller to replace a 4 year old failure which was to replace a 10 year old failure. Once you know where the release catches are it is simple to replace the front panel that has all of the functionality to save re-wiring a back plate (which is left in situ). Seems a bit pricey for what it is and like many items, the usable life before failure seems to get shorter than the last one purchased every time you buy one. Hoping this one lasts longer than the unit it replaces.

easy to fit programmer
Changed for same as previous one had lasted for 20+ years and had finally stopped turning boiler on (a resistor had burnt out) easy to swap just had to take front control panel off, but as my rear bracket was cracked (where it is wired up to) I changed that as Well just swapped the wires like for like, no drilling extra holes even after all these years it is exactly the same. A bit more expensive than others on market but due to the reliability of previous one decided to stick with the same.

Good but expensive
Fitted as a replacement for exactly the same unit that must have been about 20 years old. The battery had gone in the old unit otherwise it was working fine. It appears very expensive compared to the competition and has a basic set of features. Having said that it works well, is relatively easy to use compared with some of the others and is no more difficult to install although in this case it was a straight plug in replacement.

This was bought to replace a similar unit that had failed after only around 12 years constant use.
I was delighted to see the backplate was exactly the same as the old one and so it took less than 5 minutes to be 'out with the old and in with the new'.
Expensive for what it does, but the user likes this simple to programme device, and let's be fair they don't come much simpler!
Pricey though for what it does?
