i want to use this to seal the gap between a register plate and my brickwork. So does it work on brickwork?
Thanks for your question. As with all high temperature silicones, Plumba Flue is an acetoxy silicone and as such adhesion to brickwork can be limited. High temperature cements generally have excellent adhesion to brickwork and are resistant to temperatures in excess of 1000°C, however, fire cements are hard and inflexible and could crack if there is sufficient movement (eg thermal expansion). A good quality neutral cure silicone such as Dow Corning 791 has excellent adhesion to brickwork, whilst remaining highly flexible, however, the neutral cure mechanism limits the high temperature resistance and so Dow Corning 791 is only suitable up to a maximum temperature of 150°C. These points should be considered in order to select the best product for your application.
