I bought this product, even though some of the reviews mentioned problems with the pins.
Firstly, the instructions are poor and despite being a competent DIYer I had to go onto YouTube, to check out a video of someone installing a similar gate spring, in order to see how they were tensioning it.
Secondly, the pins just don't stick in the holes and as others have pointed out, they come flying out like little bullets.
There is nothing to hold them in, other than the tension on the spring and they can and do work loose.
This happened while I was fitting the spring and 2 days later, both springs have come out, during the natural opening and closing of the gate.
I have a 2 year old, who is at just the right height to get severely injured, if one of these pins hit her in the eye/face.
For that reason, I just cannot recommend this product to anyone.
In my opinion, the receiving hole should be threaded and the pins should screw in, to prevent mishaps.
Alternatively, they should be made to splay like a rivet.
Perhaps there are variations on the product specification, which would explain why some people don't have an issue, but on the product I purchased, the pins are loose in the receiving holes.
Not fit for purpose.

Trie 3 times to tension it and each time almost lost an eye or other vital part of my body!
Cant mention enough to shut the gate without the little metal pegs flying out at the speed of a bullet.
Don't buy and save yourself a trip to casualty.

As other reviewers said, the pins are loose and it's very easy to send these shooting towards your face.
