5 pairs for the price - one cannot go wrong. Used for hanging a rather long, hardwood, house nameplate, of which I did not want to spoil the front. As others have mentioned, accuracy of fixing is of utmost importance. Rebating the rear enables a fully flush fit, but remember to allow space for the vertical movement!
Given that they are zinc plated steel, I have greased them well to prevent rusting and used stainless steel screws.

Used these to fix a false oak beam to a wall so did not want any fixings through the front. Routed out the back so they were recessed and the beam then sat flush to the wall. Worked really well and a solid fit.

These are very simple fixings, but there is hardly anything else like them for getting heavy framed mirrors and pictures hung close in on a wall.
As mentioned in other reviews you need to measure and fix carefully to get things level, but once fixed the item will never wobble.
Can also be used for lift off access panels.

I bought these to fix an upholstered bed headboard to the wall, Travelodge style. You need to be accurate, as there's not much room for tolerance, but on the other hand it gives a robust concealed fix. Much stronger than pressed brass mirror fixings and the like, I'm pleased with the end result, and think I'll be getting some more!
