Fluke 1AC-II Voltage Detector Pen
Fluke Test Pen
I had a megger test pen, but due to the location of the power/torch button, it was forever getting caught, and draining the battery. This one however is a much better design, with an auto power off if not been used. Cant really comment on reliability as only had it a few days, but fluke is a good make, and cant fault it really. Bit pricey, but then you always get what you pay for. may buy another, as quite often I work out of 2 vehicles, and don't always have it with me. Work getting as you can't ask your apprentice to touch the wires to see if they are live.... Health & Safety apparently!

Don't let price put you off!
Yes it's pricey, but as another review said, you can't put a price on your safety. Check both sides of any flex or cable your going to check which is a good idea when you have a whole bunch clipped together under the floor.
Simple to use, reliable and sturdy enough to throw in your toolbag

Solid piece, even if it is a bit expensive. Auto shut off is nice as it saves power. It also detects with a sound. Not sure how far it can detect, it pretty much as to be touching. If near the CU it detects that. Only had it a few days so can't comment on reliability.
