Fluidmaster Lever & Fill Valve Cistern Pack
Fill valve float space tight
Used a push button version on the flush unit before so was happy with that, but on the cistern I was working on (the in-laws :( ), the entry hole was very much in the corner and space for the float to move was really tight - maybe they're all like this? - so the positioning of the fill valve in the hole was quite critical (it had to be slid as far away from the corner as possible).
Also, I didn't think the cistern was particularly shallow (front to back) but the flush lever is on the same side as the fill valve and the cable connection had to be swivelled out of the way of the lever that the float actuates to stop the water - hope it doesn't swivel around on its own!
With having to slide the fill valve as far over in the entry hole as possible there wasn't a comfortable amount of rubber washer to seal the hole - I used the bigger one off the old fill valve.

Let down by fill valve fitting
The washer, plastic shank and tightening nut are all poor. Difficult to get tight enough, centered and avoid the shank thread crossing. Much better & worth the extra to get the version with brass shank, solid and comes with better washer..

Fluidmaster Lever & Fill Valve
A very easy to install product and much better than the standard floating ball type. Very quiet in use and lots of adjustments to minimise water usage, therefore a must for those on a water meter.

Great dual action, quiet refill, easy to fit.
Please note this product is easy to fit if you can dismantle your cistern ok.
I recommend buying a seal between the pan and cistern at the same time.
Lever is a bit cheap looking.
Also at the moment i cannot refit the cistern lid as the porcelain is so thick it wont clear the refill mechanism top.
This may happen to those with older toilets.
