Fluidmaster Brass Shank Bottom Entry Fill Valve
Replacing a cheap one
Only time will tell, but after only 6 or 7 years I regret buying a cheap one of these and this is now replacing that. Went for this Fluidmaster with the brass shank because I don't want to be replacing another one so soon.
Easy to fit, tucked into a tight corner - just - behind the massive syphon, and because it's height adjustable by rotating, that gives you free movement to position so the float can move.
Looking forward to never needing to change it again in a long long time!

Well made & easy to fit
Bought this one to replace a cheap flimsy filler valve. Fitted this unit really easily & quickly in less than 30 mins. Seems to be working fine so would recommend this valve.

Worth the extra for me
I bought the cheaper plastic shank one. Nothing wrong if you have adequate access. I didn't and after a few refits chewed the thread. Got this brass shank one and despite one eye and one hand access water tight first go even just hand tight. Joy. So worth the extra depending on control.

brass shank cistern fill valve
Bought three to replace ball valve assemblies. Went in easily but, warning, leave clearance for float vis a vis cistern side. Took me about an hour to fit all three but much of this time spent getting water and crud from the cistern bottoms. The warning about using the brass shank rather than trying to save with plastic is fully justified. I unreservedly recommend. Next job replacing the ball valve mechanisms in the header tanks.
