Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect This is a perfect little AAV that fits three pipe sizes. Easy to install, well-made, and runs silently. This is my second one. One vents a washing machine, the other a sink. Both are flawless. 15 Apr 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by great product Great little product. Ideal for small or limited spaces such as bathroom cabinets. 23 Jan 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good quality valve A well designed and manufactured valve which can be fitted to any of the three pipe sizes quoted. It is made from good quality plastic which is not brittle. Air admittance appears to be good and the valve has worked well where it has been used. Time will tell as to long term reliability. 17 Nov 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Not for use with Saniflo !! Beware - DO NOT use for Saniflo in the outlet pipe. FloPlast tech support confirm these valves have inadequate positive pressure capability - they will (mine did!) blow liquid through the top of the valve - nice shower feature! Saniflo recommend and have tested the MultiKwik/Hunter Plastics WW150 - can confirm it works fine. Note the WW150 has the same "air tightness test pressure 10Kpa" spec as the FloPlast - so you'd think they were equally good, No! It's the max positive pressure that matters (not actually written on the box). Used with Saniflos an AAV must handle a min of 10PSI (69Kpa). WW150 is good to 15PSI apparently, and also has a replaceable valve mechanism. Can't comment on non-Saniflo use. 16 May 2015

Answer:
The FloPlast Air Admittance Valves are designed to allow the free entry of air into the sanitary pipework system without the escape of foul gasses into the building. When installed into sanitary pipework systems the FloPlast Air Admittance Valves prevent the loss of water from trap seals due to induced siphonage.

I am a little confused by these. I have seen a number of comments saying they can be fitted below the overflow level, but also seen other comments saying they should be fitted above the overflow level of the sink. Which is it? I intend to fit one in a bathroom cabinet, so it makes a big difference.

Answer:
FloPlast air valves have an A1 rating which means that they can be installed below the flood level of connecting appliances. All you need to make sure is that they are installed at least 200mm above the highest wet entry point into the soil stack.
