Rated 4 out of 5 by great device I bought this because I needed to taper some dowel ends, a lot of them. The chisel method didn't work very well but this is a Godsend. What would have taken me the best part of a day was done in 20 minutes. 5 Jun 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Very good drum This drum is perfect. I'm using it for garden chairs and table sanding. It does job in no time comparing to sanding by hand. It's a very good solution if you don't want to buy dedicated sanding machine for odd job around house. 2 Apr 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Just like hand-sanding. Does this work? Or is it a joke? Can a lump of foam fixed on a spigot really do any useful sanding? And is it worth the money? Is that what you're asking yourself? I have just used one of these to sand 50 years' worth of paint layers off of two large steel tractor fenders. That's about a square yard and a half of sanding resulting in a bucket-load of dust. By hand it would take days. Using a belt-sander or a flap-disc would leave marks, especially on the curvy bits. This gadget in a 14.4V Bosch cordless drill did an excellent job. The result is like hand-sanding, but in a tenth - even a twentieth - of the time. The job used a total of three 120-grit belts. Yes, it is way overpriced for a lump of foam, a machine screw, and two washers. Yes, it is made of foam and so it won't last very long if you use it every day. But it did this job saving me two days hard work so already I've had my money's worth. And it'll do the same job five times over before it wears out. The nearest equivalent tool would be a very large flap-wheel (but not a flap-disc). If you need to sand complex shapes; or if you need to sand accurate square edges: find a different tool. But for bulk sanding flat and gently curved areas ready for painting it is outstanding. 11 Feb 2009
