I needed a saw with this spec for a job. I don't usually work with wood, more engineering than carpentry. Quick and easy to assemble but that's when the trouble began. Nothing was set up "true" so I started to calibrate as directed. The first problem I encountered was that the rear fence sections did not line up making a nonsense of the protractor readings. This was a problem in the aluminium casting and could not be corrected by adjusting the bolts. Then I discovered that there was considerable play in the sliding carriage making it near impossible to make identical cuts. Finally I noted that the turntable stands 2-3 mm higher than the in and out tables causing the wood to tilt upwards when downward pressure was applied or the clamp used.
I contacted Evolution who told me that the max tolerance for the turntable was +.5mm and I was advised to return the saw for an exchange. The store had one more in stock, already assembled and on display. And it had the same problems!.
I wish I could claim for the hours wasted on this. I do try to buy British if possible but with this degree of quality control I will be thinking twice in future.

Great great great bit of kit. Of you have flooring or decking this will save you days. I have to build a shed soon and this will be the first tool i reach for.
Only possible negative is no dust bag. Come one guys.
And the saw will chop through whatever you put in the way. So be careful. It's not dangerous in itself. But being silly careless and rushing could cost you a finger before you know it.
Respect it and it will love you back.

I've had this a while now and like others am really impressed. The blade is amazing - I have cut all sorts including a 1.5" steel bar (not recommended I know) - took a while but it did it with a fairly clean cut - even the lathe didn't like this particular type of steel! Just make sure you wear a full face mask as the swarf will hit you in the face otherwise!
The laser is useful for lining up, the locks on the angles seem accurate too. There is a small amount of deviation when doing 45deg cuts but once you know the offset it can be compensated for. The other thing I found is not to use the clamp on the right when doing 90deg cuts as the motor fouls it - just need to remember to line up the work piece the right way round.
All in all very good value and can see myself using it a lot in the future - particularly for chopping up pallets with nails in ;)
