Rated 5 out of 5 by from Paper backed veneer I used this to fix a metre and a half of oak veneer to a stringer on a new staircase.I used baking sheet sellotaped to the spindles for positioning, and adhesive applied with disposable paint brush. It is flat with no bubbles and did not lift on applying a water based finish.

Answer:
The Evo-Stik 528 Contact Adhesive is solvent based polychloroprene contact adhesive. In general it will bond to metal and fibreglass but as it is a contact adhesive, the normal application method is to apply the adhesive to both surfaces, allow the solvent to evaporate then an instant non adjustable bond is achieved. Assuming you will need to slide the two components into each other, then this adhesive will not be suitable, not even if you applied it to one surface only and bonded whilst the adhesive is still wet as the solvent will not be able to dry as you have two non porous surfaces. There is another product called Evo-Stik Sticks Like Adhesive which is gun applied SMP Polymer type of adhesive that cures by absorbing moisture in the air to a hard rubber so it is not solvent based. It will in general bond fibreglass and metal and needs to be applied to one surface only before bonding and the cure time for the product will be over 24 hours as you have two non porous surfaces and it will only cure from the edges inwards. However the adhesive is a gel type consistency and if the two components are close fitting then the adhesive may get pushed out of the application when bonding.

Answer:
The Evo-Stik 528 Adhesive is a solvent based polychloroprene contact adhesive which can be used for bonding many different materials including metal, wood, leather and most plastics and rubbers. The product contains solvent which is there to make the adhesive liquefied and spreadable during application and thus it will give off a solvent smell at this stage. However the solvent does not partake in the actual bonding and so once the adhesive is fully dried and in service, all the solvent will have evaporated away so there will be no smell. The product has a maximum temperature resistance of 65 ° C once dried and in service so it must not be subject to heat higher than this. Outside of this, the product is not waterproof and is not suitable for use if in direct contact with food.

Thank you for your recent enquiry relating to our Evostik 528.
I have to advise that this adhesive can only be applied using a hand held spreader. It is not suitable for any spray equipment.
I trust this information helps.

Answer:
Evo-Stik 528 is intended to be applied to both surfaces. A good bond will result when both surfaces are just touch dry 5 - 20 minutes after application and up to 45 minutes after application if care is taken.

If it is applied to only a single surface bonding must take place in less than 5 minutes and bond strength will develop very slowly; considerably slower than the 2 way method described above.

Answer:
The Evo-Stik 528 Adhesive is a solvent based polychloroprene contact adhesive designed to bond surfaces such metal, wood and most plastics and rubbers. However the product is not waterproof and so if the application is for an exterior situation or if it will be subject to vehicle traffic then the product will not be suitable. Outside of this the product is not specified to bond to concrete and whilst the product will bond to most rubbers there are some that it will not such as EPDM that it will not bond to and there are also customised rubbers made by manufacturers for specific applications for which the adhesive will not have been tested with. It would be best to contact the manufacturer of the ramps for specific advice on bonding as they will have done tests with their product and thus know of a suitable adhesive.
