Rated 3 out of 5 by from Ruined for Sake 50p Read the reviews on this one as I couldn't believe the price. The unit is mostly very well made and it has no problems with being use off a Router Table for rebates, trimming and profiles. If that is all you want it for I would say not to look further or spend more money on anything else. However, The trigger mechanism is not compatible for use under a router table as there is no lock off which is needed for connecting the unit in series with the start/stop buttons of a router table. As a plunge saw, which these units are often referred to as, the plunge stop rod is very soft aloy and the locking screw cuts in to it each time you use it. In addition to this for the sake of a 2 penny shim between the locking screw and plunge stop rod rolls up the rod 6 - 8mm whilst tightening. Therefore to use to plunge on a worktop to clear out for the clamps on a Mason Mitre cut you would fail to achieve the desired depth. Erbauber - What were you thinking of? The unit in the most part, for the money is absolutely excellent and better than a good deal of more expensive units. But for the sake of a shim or ball end locking screw and a hardened plunge rod I would put this against a unit of twice the price. As it is I returned it to Electricfix who gave me a full refund without quibble. These simple upgrades would surely cost less than 50p. What a shame. I really liked the balance and soft start. It feels like a quality tool but those two points plus the trigger mechanism mean it is no use for accurate plunge cutting or for under table use. Have a rethink.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from What's different Initially thought that this was a great value-for-money router until I started to need to more than cut grooves. The guide bush diameter is 85mm whilst on almost all other routers it's 60mm. This means that it is almost impossible to use things like dovetail jigs. In fact anything that needs a guide bush other than those supplied. Why it's manufactured like this is anyone's guess. Screwfix couldn't help.

What speed should the router be set at for routing 40 mm kitchen worktops.

HOW MANY CUTS SHOULD I GET FROM ONE ROUTER BIT.
Asked by: Pete1960
Hi Pete1960, The speed required depends on what your worktop is made of. There's a guide in the instruction manual (page 16) that covers the speed for different materials & thicknesses. If you've lost your copy you can find a digital version at the bottom of the 'Specifications' tab, or email us online@screwfix.com and we can send you a copy out. How many cuts you will get depends on the material you are cutting, the quality of the bits & how hard you are working it. Thanks for using Q&A, KC
