Rated 4 out of 5 by from Hot knife through butter Very pleased with this saw. I was building some new fences and used recycled pallets for the materials. Used this saw to break the pallets down. The supplied blades are a bit rubbish - go blunt and bendy quite quickly, but one I was onto the Bosch ones (also from screwfix) this became an unstoppable machine. 15 pallets completely stripped in just a couple of hours.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is the business I purchased this to cut some significant tree branches, then cut them up into logs. When mated with the Bosh demolition blades it does the job brilliantly. Haven't had it that long but already it has impressed me. I have purchased cheaper units in the past and they are most definitely inferior to this one. If you can afford it buy this. It is a pleasure to use and an excellent machine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent saw I bought this to saw up some old wooden furniture and to cut up some logs for the fire. It worked very well indeed. I found it very easy to fit and remove the blades, while the carrying bag is a very good feature. The only downside is that it is a little heavy. Overall 'd say it was one of the best buys I've made.

Can this saw be held one handed and used to cut logs

Asked by: blackadder123
Hello blackadder123, The saw can be operated one handed, there is one on/off trigger in the handle. We would recommend using both hands though for better control, as the saw is quite long, heavy & powerful. The saw can be used to cut logs up to 300mm. Thanks for using Q&A

Sorry, an amateur when it comes to woodwork. Would this be good for home DIY furniture projects? And can it be used for precise work including cutting in straight lines? Or would I be better off using a jigsaw?

Asked by: Sparrowhawk
If you want to cut in a straight line then a jigsaw is a better bet. There is simply too much "play" with this type of saw to give you an accurate cut. The jigsaw has a larger surface area of contact with what you are cutting. You can also double-sided tape down a guide timber with a jigsaw if you are concerned about going off path. That won't work with a reciprocating saw. The disadvantage is you can't get everywhere with a jigsaw, plus you blade length is probably limited to around 30mm or so.

in the instruction manual, it refers to 'plunge cutting'. Has anyone tried this? If so was it successful? Can't see it myself.

Asked by: Vols
I wouldn't try it. I'd go for an oscillating saw for that. Plunge cutting with an oscillating saw is a real pleasure - it works.

This saw states it cuts wood up to 300mm. However the blade supplied is only 235mm so how is the longer cut possible ?

Asked by: BernieB
My guess is you can buy longer blades and it will cope with those up to 300mm.
