Rated 4 out of 5 by does what it says on the tin used this to spray fence panels originally but have since used it to prime skirting boards little on the noisy side takes abit of setting up with paint till you get consistancy right wouldn't use it inside but over all an excellent product for the price 11 Apr 2016

Rated 5 out of 5 by Value spray gun Great product, saved me loads of time, much easier than brushing and used less paint. 16 Dec 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by perfect for outdoor use This spray gun is a brilliant one for fence stains and other low viscosity paint but inside not so good due to low control and excessive noise if your happy with noise and covering things up then as long as you dilute any paint can be used anywhere perfect for large areas 14 Sep 2015

Answer:
You should be able to as I've used water based gloss thinned down and it gave a good finish. There is a cup enclosed with a hole in the bottom and you have to put some of your paint into it to check the viscosity. Its easy and explains how to do it in the instructions and you just have to thin your pain if its too thick. Will prob just need to use water if its for emulsion. Trouble is, Ive had 2 of these now and they've both broken. Was working fine when I packed them away but wouldn't work when I went to use them again. So unless you plan to do your painting all in one day and then throw this away I wouldn't recommend it. I'm going to try an alternative.
