Rated 4 out of 5 by from size of head !!! Water hardness irrelevant for this item, as NOT in contact with water. This cutout is slightly larger than old style ones, and you may find it fouls the heater terminal. If it does, you have problems.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not great Thermostat keeps cutting out and needing resetting, looks like the thermostat is not working and the overheat protection is cutting in as water is very hot, even if the thermostat is turned right down to lowest setting. Have bought another one elsewhere and fitted it yesterday and all seems fine with that one so must have been unlucky and got a faulty one from screwfix.

THERMOSTAT CHANGE

2 QUESTIONS:- 1. My one already fitted states 12.5A 240V on it, so am I able to use 15A 240V you sell? 2. The fuse in the consumer unit is 15 amp do I need to upgraded this fuse to a bigger amp fuse?
Asked by: Anonymous
Yes, you will be able to replace a thermostat rated at 12.5 amps with one that is rated at 15 amps. You should not change the fuse in the consumer unit. It is the immersion heater element which draws the current in circuit, probably about 12.5 amps. This means that the thermostat, which is essentially a switch, must be able to handle at least that amount. The fuse is there to protect the circuit so should be rated as low as possible, in order that it will blow if the circuit current raises too high for the wiring or equipment without affecting normal operation.
