Well the TRV4 has been around for a number of years, available in white, chrome, straight and angled with or without a lock shield.
Yes there are cheaper brands available but they may not be as reliable as the Drayton, should you need to change the valve head because someone painted over it or loses it! You know that the Drayton design will be around and you can pick up a replacement head. Try that with your no name cheap TRV that's only around for a few years.

These TRVs are well made and reliable, it's no accident they are the default product for good plumbers. I know I will never have a callback because of one of these. Overall excellent if a little pricey.

These valves are very easy to install and do what it says on the tin. Although there are guidelines for average temperature values for the settings, you invariably need to adjust by trial and error for each location. My one issue with them is that if you over-tighten them on installation, they can later shear off from the mounting - which can be expensive. The installation instructions do give a mild warning about tightening but do not say what the risk is.

Had my whole house fitted with these, and so far 2 have broken and had to be replaced. The plastic on the bottom of the valve dis-integrates. I guess that Drayton are aware of this, as they sell just the head replacement! Nice if they looked into solving the problem, rather than making the consumer pay for a replacement each time.
