Rated 5 out of 5 by Good Stuff Excellent mortar, in a handy pail. Strangely comes in a box in a bag - seems unnecessary packaging, 10 Apr 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by CEMENTONE - magic mortar mix Great product. I didn't want to use the whole lot in one go as only a small job, so just transferred some to a bucket and mixed it in there. I'm not experienced but mixing it was easy, could top up the mix with more CEMENTONE as I added a little too much water and got just the right consistency. Just what I needed. 9 Apr 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by easy to use I had a small job to do in the house mixed it in the bucket and it did the job for me, saving any mess and time if mixed on the floor with a shovel. Very handy for small jobs. 4 Mar 2016

I've built a base for my shower out of ply and now need to fix the tray to it. The instructions say to use mortar. Is this product suitable? I've been told the mix needs to be "dry pack".

Thank you for your recent email enquiry.
I can confirm that yes this product would be suitable for bedding in your shower tray. This product just needs to be mixed with water.
I trust this helps.

Answer:
Thank you for your enquiry relating to our product Cementone General Purpose Mortar.
We would recommend you wait at least 2 days before over painting this product.
The surface needs to be dry and we would recommend the use of a water based paint that is water permeable. If you use a different type of paint you need to ensure the mortar is completely dry not just surface dry and this will take a lot longer and will depend on ambient conditions and thickness of the mortar.
We suggest you speak with the paint manufacturer concerning the use of a suitable primer.
I hope this information helps.

I used one tub of this product.

I used half of it but found the mix to be too dry (100ml water : 1kg mix) so I increased the water ratio to 150m: 1kg and this was easier to manage.

However, upon drying 48 hours later, the section that had 100ml mix has come up as a 60% grey* than the section with 150ml mix which is more like 25% grey*

* 0% = white, 100% = black

I am looking for a product that will end up being very dark grey when dried. Can I do so by adding something to this product or do you offer an alternative product that will give me dark grey mortar?

Answer:
Good morning.
With grey mortar or grout, adding extra water will always produce a lighter colour. For this reason, the powder and water must be measured accurately when mixing part of a pack. You could add a standard black pigment for cement mixes to this material, but you would have to experiment to determine the level of pigment required to achieve your desired colour. You may need to use accurate kitchen scales to ensure consistent amounts of pigment are used.
