Byron Wall-Mounted Door Chime Kit with Transformer
Did not work
Totally useless. With batteries, did not work.
With transformer, did not work.
With every wire connection combination, did not work. The most annoying thing was that I first spent 10 hours drilling walls and feeding cable and building a shockproof box for the transformer out of a waterproof junction box, then found the bell unit was useless. Also, who designs these transformers? They have no protection from electric shock. Make sure your electrician houses yours safely in a box out of harms way. Archaic wire connection system too. Fiddly, like Victorian electrics. Hasn't the manufacturer heard of plugs/sockets, or grubscrew blocks?

Although easy to install. I found the sound very low. not what i was expecting from a brand name item

A good functional door bell
A competitively priced wired door bell system with the option to be mains powered via a transformer or alternatively by a 9v battery. It was easy to fit and and works well for me.
I have fitted it because the bell push on the wireless system I had previously was too far away from from the chime unit.

Did it ring?
Possibly the quietest door bell I've ever heard.
I got this as it was the cheapest way to get the transformer. It would probably be ok for a flat or small house but not loud enough for my house with 4 kids running around.
