Bosch GBH 2-28DV 2kg SDS Plus Drill 240V
Bosch GBH 2-28DV SDS 240v Dril
This is the first SDS drill that I have purchased and although I've only had it a week and used it twice, it has performed brilliantly.

Perfect big brother to the PBS
My trusty Bosch PBS 18V does 80% of things - screwing, drilling and I've used it to put bolts in brick. However I needed to put in a 107mm ventilation hole for the extractor fan through block and then brick - I used the Erbauer Diamond Core Drill Bit 107mm x 150mm with extension arbour and guide bit.
The drill is solidly built, the controls are positive - clicking and locking selector and the hand positions are a good separation. For this I was using normal drilling (no hammer).
The drill went through the block like butter.. then into the brick (guide bit removed after the first inch of block). Drilling it maintained a constant speed, only when I moved and the coring bit locked did the safety clutch cut in. I'm not muscular so the light 2Kg and clutch prevented tired arms getting injured.
It's light enough to easily be kept in the correct position and to control but powerful enough to really take pressure against it without slowing. There's a noticeable difference between a Li-ion drill and this in use but not that much difference in weight.
I tend to prefer accuracy over braun and I feel it would be quite capable of replacing mortar, taking up tiles but also drilling wood - however if you will need a SDS chuck for normal drill bits.
Initially I thought it was odd that the manual suggested you could use it for screwing(!) but I had tried the drill, the speed control seems very capable - right down to screwing speeds.
Nice touch - the depth gauge and the aux handle clamps are metal - unlike PBS, and the SDS Plus chuck simply pushes and 'click' then a simple push collar release with working loose during drilling.

I borrowed an older version to mount a plasma tv bracket, it worked so well i bought one!
This model is so much better I have used it to take down a small wall in the garden and it got through it like a hot knife through butter. The vibration damping makes it comfortable to use for long periods.

I went into a certain retail DIY chain a year or two ago, explaining that the walls in my house are solid concrete and while I had a good quality drill, it was taking me a lot of time, drillbits and physical effort just to get one screw into the wall. The guy chuckled and said "that's just the way it is!".
When I needed to put up several shelves recently I looked online to see if there really wasn't any alternative.
I like the reviews on the Screwfix website and the way the products are categorised and found the Screwfix price on this SDS Plus drill as good as anywhere else.
And I was just amazed at the way this drill goes through concrete effortlessly!
Easy to use.
And the SDS drillbits look the same after the work as before, whereas my regular drillbits had been melting and breaking all the time.
My chainsaw is Bosch, so is my regular drill (which is fine within the limitations of a regular drill).
I am happy to say Vorsprung durch Technik as far as Bosch is concerned.
