Rated 2 out of 5 by from Almost lasted a year Installed in an outdoor but protected area without direct rain, switch used 3 or 4 times per week. It lasted 10 months before becoming intermittent. Lack of time prevented me returning it last month but will be returning it and replacing it with a similar product from another manufacturer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Weatherprood Switch Good product that delivers what it says in the description. Plastic feels a little cheap but it does the job and the price is fantastic. Strongly recommended.

Mains inline use

Is this suitable for adding inline to a 2 way mains extension (240v 13a)? Basically, I can't access the plugs at either end, so need to add something inline along the lead to be able to switch all sockets on and off at once...
Asked by: Freakyleaf
Hi, thank you for your product enquiry. This BG 1-Gang 2-Way Single Pole Slim Weatherproof Switch is rated for a maximum power flow of 20A, so will not be exceeded by the 13A maximum of your extension lead. Suitable gaskets will be required to close the 20mm knockouts securely around the extension cable to maintain weatherproofing if the switch will be outside or in a moist environment, and it is worth noting that as a 2-way single pole switch you will only be able to switch the Live line (to switch the Neutral as well you would need a Double Pole switch).

L1 & L2 question

There is no L1 or L2 printed on the switch. Instead there is "2 way" and "1 way" ...would I be right to assume that "2 way" is L2 and "1 way" is L1 ? Many thanks.
Asked by: Starman69
Hi, thank you for your product enquiry. Yes, in BG products where 1 way and 2 way have been marked these do equate to L1 and L2.

Is the power indicator light always on so that you can find switch in the dark?

Asked by: Mishcum
Hi, thank you for your product enquiry. All of the range of BG Weatherproof switches have 3 options for how to wire the indicator light, one of which is an Always On option (requiring a Neutral feed into the switch housing to achieve).

Can I use in place of wether proof sockets

Can I use these switches as opposed to a weather proof socket. I would like to connect 3 pumps in a pump chamber for a koi carp pond. These switches would make switching them on and off without having to open the socket covers
Asked by: Buppal
Hi, thank you for your product enquiry. With any device which interacts with water it is advisable to use Double Pole switches rather than Single, as this will disconnect the Neutral feed as well as the Live feed as an extra precaution. Capacity wise, these switches are rated at 20A inductive (4,800W) each so should be easily able to cope with the load.

Im looking for an inline switch for a hot tub, maximum draw 2000W. What is the maximum rating of this switch?

Asked by: Triumphspitty
Hi, thank you for your product enquiry. All BG Electrical Storm range weatherproof switches are rated at 20A 20AX, which means that they will cope with up to 4,800W of load regardless of whether it is resistive or inductive.
