Rated 4 out of 5 by from Non-Restricting I was replacing an outside tap for use with a newer and more powerful pressure washer that needed a higher water supply rate than I was getting form the old bib tap. Added the full bore isolating valve in conjunction with a 22mm double check valve in order to get as much flow as possible to the outside tap. The full bore valve really made a difference and was simple to fit as any other, will now use full bore wherever appropriate in preference to the cheaper restrictive valves.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bore dough These cost more but as everyone else points out will offer an unrestricted flow through. Being full bore of this particular design means the operation screw needs a bit of attention to get it lined up fully closed, otherwise it'll merely be not quite. We fitted full bore to everything, which certainly makes a difference on a shower, but when it comes to a basin mixer with its own smaller bore flexi connections might render it a touch pointless. However, they do look good, and they (as far as I'm aware, and again, due to the particular design of the valve) don't have a direction of fitting, they should work either way. Out of consistency I was fitting all of them with the larger area body nut flats on the supply side. Check the dimensions if you're replacing an old valve with these, as everyone has pointed out, these are a bit bulkier in all dimensions (except time).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just the job Good product and appears well built. I now always use the full flow shut of valves as they cost very little more than a standard valve and you don't get a pressure drop leading to reduced flow. This is especially important as, over time, you might get more than one stop valves in a system which could then reduce flow significantly.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 15mm Full bore 1/4 turn valve A solid 1/4 turn full bore isolation valve. No reduction in pipe size through this valve (full bore) so little in the way of flow rate reduction and dynamic pressure loss. Not a bad valve for the money. Like most of these types of valve they could be better than they are from a design point of view but they would probably be harder to manufacture and cost more. For instance it would be nice if they had a closed stop instead of the ball freely rotating. this means that the user has to get the quarter turn close to spot on to be completely closed or completely open as there is no mechanical rotation stop / limit. it would be slightly easier to fit if the body of the valve was a constant hexagonal so as to facilitate holding with a spanner more easily. This valve has a hex shoulder on one end. If you use the hex shoulder to hold the valve while tightening the compression nut on that end, the holding spanner will foul on the nut being tightened so a narrow jaw adjustable spanner can be useful. this is not a flaw in this specific valve but almost all full bore ball valves.

Answer:
Hi Robsworth,

There is no direction of flow in this valve as it is bi-directional.

Thank you for using Q and A.

Cant see why not, they are full flow so will not effect circulation, I have a similar one, with yellow lever operation, on part of my circuit with no detriment
