Metalclad socketsI have used quite a number of these sockets, mostly with no problems but I had a couple of switch failures a while back. Recently I bought 6 more, 2 had faulty switches that kept the socket live when the switch was off. 2 out of 6 is worrying. They were about 10 weeks old so Screwfix refused to give a refund which I think is poor service for a potential safety issue. If you have these sockets, check they are off when you think they are. I will swallow the cost and use MK DP sockets in the workshop in future.

Very poor qualityFitted some of these sockets in a commercial setting and found that they stop working after few months.
Sometime one gang stop working and sometime both!! Never seen anything like that.
Bought MK from Screwfix and we had no problem at all. Better spend the extra money and not having to go back and replace sockets.

Are these BS 1363-2 sockets?
The current EI regs mentions the BS number BS 1363-2. I notice that your sockets have a BS number of BS 1363. The regs state "where the manufacturer approves its suitability for use". I was just wondering what the "-2" was about.
Asked by: BathSpark
The "-2" refers to the part of the standard, we list it as BS1363 as all parts are covered by the product.
I hope this helps.

Surface or flush mounted
Hi, as the photo of the back box is not great. Are these designed to be flush fitted or surface mounted. regards
Asked by: cableguy2
These are designed to be surface mounted, you may be able to fit the face plate flush to a surface using metal back boxes but the galvanised box supplied with this socket is for surface mounting.

I have bought these to go into my spare bedroom.. I am having extra sockets put in.. Will I need a converter or will they just wire into the mains??
Asked by: Anonymous
These switches would be wired straight in to the mains, we would advise you contact a suitably qualified tradesperson before fitting these.
