Rated 2 out of 5 by no good for water stains This is not very good for water stains,I prefer the solvent based cover stain.very disappointed with it. 27 Aug 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best stain covering ever It is only a tin of paint but is the best product ever for covering water stained ceilings, mould stained plaster and un-stopped knots in door frames. In fact it seems it is the universal primer available. 9 Aug 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect Every Time I love this product, I first started using it a few months ago to undercoat an old highly varnished dresser I wanted to paint that I just didn't have the time to sand, the result was excellent. Since then I have used nothing but this primer, it sticks to everything, bare wood, copper pipes, varnished finishes ... anything you like! I 100% recommend this product. 4 Aug 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Brilliant Zinnser 123 paint is brilliant. It covered over black Bitumen paint with two coats! No cracking or bleed through. Easy to clean brushes with water. Fair price. Fantastic product! 30 Jul 2016

I have brown stained woodwork (Sadolin Redwood) & would like to change all of this to white/gloss.I've read that this may negate the need for the doors to be dipped? Do I just need to clean down the woodwork, apply 1 coat of this then the white gloss?

Answer:
Actually the best primer in our range for interior doors that are previously stained is the B-I-N Primer (29661), this achieves the optimum key to a surface of this type. The surface to be painted should be cleaned thoroughly, we recommend a good wash down with a hot water/liquid detergent solution, a rinse with fresh warm water - no detergent to remove all traces of soap then when dry a final wipe over with methylated spirit. Once fully clean apply 1 coat of B-I-N Primer followed after a minimum of 45 minutes with your chosen topcoat system, water based or solvent based.

I want to paint over the primer with Farrow & Ball paint. Whilst they were unable to recommend a particular primer they did say it should be water based.

Answer:
The Bulls Eye 123 would be the best recommendation, however as the bath is brand new for optimum adhesion we recommend preparing the acrylic by lightly abrading the surface and degreasing with methylated spirit prior to applying the Bulls Eye 123 primer, the painted surface should be protected from knocks, scratches etc for a minimum of 7 days after application.

Answer:
Sorry, the Bulls Eye 123 primer is not suitable for use on floors so would not be a recommended primer for a self levelling compound. We do not have a product within the Zinsser range suitable for this application.

Answer:
There are two options to resolve ghosting of the primer when it has been used as a spot primer only, one is to prime the whole area with the Bulls Eye 123 up to a natural break the other is to apply a higher hiding topcoat such as Zinsser Perma-White Interior Matt (1289G)
