Rated 5 out of 5 by Saved me the cost of hiring This is a great little product; I'm at the end of a kitchen fitting and gradually running out of dosh. The chance to save some by doing the tiling myself was an opportunity not to be missed. Manual tile cutters are fine for straight cuts but trying to cut round sockets and switches can be challenging. This cutter makes light work of those tasks and I've been made up at how professional a job can be done with it. 21 Apr 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Worked a treat. With a bathroom floor to tile using 10mm quarry tiles I thought I'd need something with power, read the reviews which were in the majority good and so picked it up instore. Easy to assemble, some reveiws said the instructions were poor quality and hard to read, mine were ok but you can download a copy which I did just in case, they were pretty good. Worked a treat, did everything I needed, I had lots of cuts to make round the edges of the room, no problem at all. The cutting guide isn't brilliant, not the easiest to adjust, I checked the setting with a steel rule. Apart from that I can't fault it. A couple of points, don't lift up the blade guard to see what's happening on tricky freehand cuts you'll get soaked! If you're cutting quarry tiles clean the machine thoroughly and often. I had to spend a couple of days to get the job done, the dust from the quarries begins to set into a thick paste very quickly which surprised me, I had to use a putty knife to scrape it out of the water tank more than once. Got the job done, cleaned the machine,it's back in the box waiting for the next job. 30 Mar 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by So far so good Only used once so far but seems good. The setup instructions could be better but got there in the end! 26 Mar 2016
Rated 3 out of 5 by Good for freehand cuts The cutting is fine if you want to cut freehand. The parallel fence is difficult to use. It is not easily movable. I was so frustrated with the machine that I returned it in exchange for the Vitrex which is much better. 18 Mar 2016

bottle bricks

Bottle bricks as seen in earthships M. Reynolds et al are made by cutting the ends off two bottles with a wet saw, normally used for tiles, then taping the cut ends together to make the brick.
question 1... Is this tile cutter powerful enough and is the blade diameter ideal to make it capable of cutting glass bottles?
question 2... Which ,if so, is the best 115mm blade for cutting glass ? i.e. will the the disc supplied cope ?

Answer:
Hi gus61,

This tile saw although capable of cutting through glass bottles is not designed to do so and the wear on the blade would be quite high. it would be advisable to purchase a dedicated glass cutter.

Thank you for using Q and A.

When cutting tiles it splashes water +++. It washed off the pencil mark used to mark the cut.
We have tried with less water but it still splashes.
