Stanley Surform Planer File
Ergonomically sound, and great for those jobs when you don't need to get a plane out. This worked perfectly for shaving the underside of a rabbit hutch door without having to remove the door, making the job a lot easier.

I've had one of these for over 20 years (not bought from Screwfix of couse but looks exactly the same). Apart from changing the odd blade it has worked perfectly. It's not my first choice for working on wood as it can leave tramlines if not used correctly & is not designed to give a perfectly flat surface (the base on mine at least has a curve to it which keeps the blade tight- you also use a screw at one end similar in action to a hacksaw). However on most other products especially polyfiller, fresh plaster & car body filler it will quickly give you a good surface to work with. It is good for wood when shaping. The plastic handle can be quickly changes from upright to parallel to change it from a plane handle to the file handle. I think everyone needs a surform in their toolbox.
