After about one years light use the heater has now melted the plug into the socket.

I'm afraid I have been sorely disappointed with this item. I bought one in Edinburgh 2 or 3 years ago for my small garage where I keep two vintage cars and found although the fan worked it didn't heat at all. I could have touched the elements and not got burned. I didn't get back to Edinburgh for over a year and just resigned myself to a waste of money. When a store opened closer to me I mentioned it when buying other tools and the staff told me to exchange it with them for a unit they used as a demonstrator. Sadly the unit was no better. I'm now looking at lpg or gas powered heaters. It was a waste of money but I'm surprised to see others rating the unit highly. Maybe I just got a raw deal.

I bought this, and as I was getting to my van, a builder said be careful with that heater my burnt out. So I was now a little worried. 5 months down the line I have had no problems at all and it has been on a heck of a lot. All I can say is perhaps he had the wrong model for what he needed. I HAVE HAD NO PROBLEMS AND WOULD DEFINATELLY BUY IT AGAIN.

Decent build quality - robust and good materials.
Makes quite a bit of noise for a 2kw heater.
It doesn't have a cold fan-only setting, despite the manual saying that it does.
It doesn't have 3 speed settings, despite the product description saying that it does.
The thermostatic control seems to work OK although it doesn't have temperature levels marked, so you just have to guess.
Overall it's OK-ish but for the money you would expect better features.
