Rated 2 out of 5 by from Ok.... Just. Firstly I'd like to point out I am not skilled in the art of plastering so my comments may be complete tosh. However, I assumed supposedly being 'sticky' (which it isn't) this should have enough adhesive to stick to plasterboard (which it doesn't) I ended up sandwiching the scrim between two lots of plaster/jointing compound which does keep it in place. I saw the negative reviews but didn't take a note of the number online, it's not labeled up in the catalogue as no nonsense and nothing on the packaging saying it is either which is rather sneaky. That said, it's been OK for what I needed for. If I were a plasterer I'd stay well away just for the amount of time/rework involved. For small DIY patching up it scraps through.... JUST

can you paint straight on top of this tape

I'm plasterboarding a posh shed and just want to paint the boards rather than pay for it to be plastered
Asked by: Goingitalone
Hi Goingitalone, So that it is not visible, it is normal to skim the joint tape with plaster before painting. However the tape can be painted over directly, though the mesh pattern will show through the paint. Thank you for using Q&A. PB

What can I put on top of this tape? Is there a particular plaster or Polyfilla that is easy to apply and will stick?

Asked by: Belson
Hello Belson, Product 29114 should do the trick. Thank you for using Q&A

Is there a centre fold for when taping corners

Asked by: Underpaidjoiner
Hi Underpaidjoiner, I have spoken with our supplier who has advised that this product does not have the centre fold for taping corners. However, at the time of writing we do stock the Plasterers Corner Bead Tape Silver / Aluminium 50mm x 30m (Product Code 45720), which does have this feature. Thanks for using Screwfix Q&A. JT

do you still need to use joint compound to stick the tape to the plasterboard?

Asked by: Emanuele
Hello Emanuele, Every installation is different due to the varying circumstances of the site and environment. Therefore we advise that you contact a local tradesperson who will be able to view and assess your particular requirements. They will be able to provide further advice for the installation of the joint tape. Thank you for using Q&A.

Can I use this to repair minor cracks before plastering is put on?

Asked by: Released
Hello Released, This product is designed to cover the joint between two plasterboard, in theory you could also use it to cover the cracks, however this would only be done for aesthetics and would provide no structural stability whatsoever. Thank you for using Q&A.
