Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not convinced Shortly after introducing this product into my system the boiler starting making kettling noises. I left it for a couple of weeks but finally decided to drain and refilling the system and the noises stopped. Not necessarily an issue with the product but it didn't agree with my boiler.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Noise Tried this for the first time. A bit time consuming and messy having to partially empty radiator and pour this in but stop the noise straight away! Great!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from No Nonsense Silencer Worked OK Old floor standing cast iron boiler with bad kettleing, I did not expect it to be silent after treatment but I was impressed by the effect, it's still bumping away but a lot less than before, the effect is not instant and it's improved over the past few weeks. I'm considering adding another bottle, but not sure if it's sensible to do so? however if you have an old boiler I would give it a go, it worked well enough for me.

Each bottle indicates expiry date on it, which I think is related to the shelf life. Nothing tells the length of time it continues being effective when added to the system so as to add more if needed.

Answer:
Hello,

In simple central heating noise reducer works to break down the lime scale build up on the boiler heat exchange surfaces so that they are no longer precipitated on the boiler and instead held in solution. This being said it does not then prevent further build up of lime scale but works well to remove any that is present at the time it is added.

Answer:
Yes expiry date is shelf life. The product will work indefinitely but would need replacing of the system is drained for any reason.

Answer:
Noise Reducer is a suplimentary scale inhibitor for extremely hard water areas. If scale is allowed to form it will cause kettling noises as steam blisters burst. It should be left in the system so that it can dissolve limescale deposits back into solution and reduce the noise. Scale deposits cost additional money to heat so good scale control is important. This product MUST be used with a corrosion inhibitor at the same time. We recommend No Nonsense Inhibitor but it could equally be used with Fernox products as we have not encountered any incompatibility issues.

Answer:
It's always better to overdose than under dose but one 500ml bottle should be sufficient for a 7 radiator system and the silencer must be used with an inhibitor.
